New 2026 Chevrolet Traverse MPG, Features, Release Date  –  Since three-row SUVs have eclipsed minivans as the most popular means of family transportation, competition in the market has increased, and consumers now have a choice between numerous good models. This trim level for the New 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is the closest the car can come to being a minivan. The reason for this is that it has larger third-row seating capacity than its competitors.

The vehicle’s pricing includes a non-negotiable $1,900 delivery charge as part of the Traverse LS package. The car comes equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) and is priced at $41,843 in Canada. Furthermore, taxes are not included in the cost. I got paid $51,198 for my efforts as LT True North’s driver. The added cost of paint and wheels brought the price of my test vehicle up to $55,243 before taxes, so it was already quite expensive.

Exterior and Interior

A step up from the LT, the True North is equipped with a plethora of functions. In addition to the features listed above, the base model of the True North comes equipped with a power-folding mirror, a dual-pane sunroof, a 120 volt power outlet, a motorized passenger seat, a premium radio, GPS, a surround-view camera, and leather-trimmed seats. The True North is an SUV designed for Canadian roads with features including a rubber cargo box and floor liners for all three rows of seats. The cluster of controls is located in the middle stack, and the buttons on the steering wheel are covered in rubber, so it seems like the Traverse isn’t a very technological vehicle. However, its understated design is the product of prioritizing aesthetics over practicality. Not only is the view tolerable, but getting in and out of the front and back rows of seats is a breeze. Although there is usually a compromise when it comes to three-row seating, this vehicle’s wide rear doors and adjustable second-row seats make up for it. There is a major benefit to this. It turns out to be easier to get back there than most of the cars that compete head-on with the Traverse. When loading freight, you won’t have to lift anything higher than is absolutely necessary because the tailgate opens all the way to the bumper. Loading products will become much easier with this.

Engine and Performance

All of the Traverse’s trim levels are powered by the same 3.6-liter V6 engine. There is a potential for 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque from this engine. Along with all-wheel drive, this engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the Telluride’s V6 engine and the Subaru Ascent’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine, this one has more horsepower. This is in addition to the 300 horsepower generated by the base 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Explorer; however, a turbocharged V6 engine with a maximum output of 400 horsepower is available as an option for the Ford. 

Although I’ve had the opportunity to experience the 3.6-liter engine in the smaller Blazer, which offers more powerful performance, it remains a practical substitute for the larger and heavier Traverse. Quick acceleration may cause the engine to make a little noise, but the car is more than capable of handling highway overtaking with ease. The transmission shifts smoothly and without jerkiness, adding to the pleasant and balanced ride.

That being said, depending on the engine option, the Explorer’s maximum towing capability can be anywhere from 2,404 kg (5,300 lb) to 2,540 kg (5,600 lb). The Telluride and Traverse are similar in that they can each pull up to 5,000 pounds, or 2,268 kg. The Traverse’s official fuel economy rating is 13.6 L/100 km in city conditions, 9.6 L/100 km on highways, and 11.8 L/100 km in mixed-use scenarios. Both city and highway driving are factored into the official rating. Over the course of the week I was under its influence, I consumed an average of 12.6 liters per hundred kilometers. A turbocharged four-cylinder version of the Ford Explorer achieves 10.3 liters per hundred kilometers under mixed operating conditions, even if its V6 shares the same rating as the Traverse’s V6 (11.8 liters per hundred kilometers). The Subaru Ascent is a constantly-wheel-drive car that is both smaller and more fuel-efficient than its rivals, boasting a 10.5 liters per hundred kilometers fuel economy.

The Traverse has a “Acceptable” rating from the non-profit Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its child seat mounts’ simplicity of use. Having said so, the Traverse gets an excellent “Good” grade in terms of crash testing. Though testing on the New 2026 model has not yet taken place, this remains the case.Standard on the LT are a number of driver assistance technologies. All of these systems are built within the car. Features such as lane-keeping assist, emergency front braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the mandatory rearview camera found on all new vehicles fall under this category.

The True North has a 360-degree camera, enhanced emergency braking for highway speeds, and a rearview mirror that can be used both normally and to see what’s behind the vehicle in a video format. In True North, you may find all of these qualities. It may take some getting used to, but the camera’s placement in the back of the car guarantees that third-row passengers’ heads won’t be blocking your view. Though most of the help features worked perfectly, the emergency front brake system occasionally tended to be a bit too harsh. After factoring in the $1,900 delivery charge, the price of the Traverse can range from $41,843 to $62,643. Not only does it offer a lot of conveniences and space for the third row and cargo compared to many of its rivals, but buyers also have the option to choose from a number of different price points. If the interior doesn’t match the tag on the top trim, then the perceived value is the variable to consider in this calculation, which can change.

The Explorer starts at $48,694 (all prices include delivery) and goes as high as $68,404 for the Platinum trim level, in contrast to the Telluride’s pricing range of $48,890 to $58,590. You may get the Telluride in a variety of price ranges. The price of a Subaru Ascent can range from $39,170 to $53,670, with many options available. Within this domain, one can explore a multitude of options, each of which adds something special to the subject at hand.

Thanks to its comfortable interior, straightforward controls, and generous luggage capacity, the New 2026 Chevrolet Traverse ranks high among my favorite SUVs. It may not deliver the best performance out of all of them, but it is still a favorite of mine. Another reason I love using the True North is that it features winter-ready interior protection.
