The news website cited a “competitive analysis source” to support its claim that the Chevy Express and GMC Savanna commercial vans will be discontinued after the 2025 model year. There are only two seats in the front of the Express cargo van because its primary purpose is to transport freight. Additionally, the length of the cargo compartment behind those is 126.8 inches when the normal wheelbase is used, and it is 146.8 inches when the extended wheelbase is used. In either case, the width of the cargo hold amounts to 52.5 inches, and its height is 53.8 inches. In the short wheelbase configuration, the Express passenger van has four rows of seats, which can accommodate a maximum of twelve passengers. In the long wheelbase configuration, the Express van has five rows of seats, which can accommodate fifteen passengers.

When compared to the majority of contemporary automobiles, the Express is about as technologically advanced as a floppy disk. The standard equipment consists of a head unit that is equipped with an AM/FM radio and an MP3 player, and it is controlled by a small LCD display. In order to comply with the regulations that require all new vehicles to be fitted with a backup camera, the Express conceals a small LCD display within its rearview mirror.

Engine and Performance

An eight-speed automatic transmission is used in every 2024 Express van, regardless of the engine. This is an improvement over the six-speed transmission that was previously used with the V-6 engine. The transmission is utilized to transfer output to the rear wheels. It is not possible to use AWD.

The regular 4.3-liter V-6 engine generates 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque; the new eight-speed transmission is expected to increase the vehicle’s fuel economy in comparison to the previous year. The option 6.6-liter V-8 engine generates 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. With a standard wheelbase of 135.2 inches, the Express cargo and passenger vans are able to handle a body that measures 224.1 inches in length overall. There are three different wheelbase lengths available for the Express cutaway: 139.0 inches, which results in an overall length of 247.2 inches; 159.0 inches, which results in an overall length of 276.2 inches; and 177.0 inches, which results in an overall length of 285.3 inches.

Vehicles that are classified as cargo vans have a base price of $34,295 and are offered in a single utilitarian trim level. For passenger vans, there is also an LT trim level that is available, which is significantly less utilitarian. For an increased cost of approximately $2,100 over the base LS trim level, this trim level includes cruise control and cloth upholstery as standard and optional features.

Last but not least, the payload is the factor that distinguishes each Express variant from the others. The Express 2500 with the standard wheelbase has the capacity to support a maximum weight of 3,280 pounds as its maximum weight capacity.
